City of Memphis Mayor A.C. Wharton proclaimed Wednesday, August 10, 2011, as a day to celebrate Tennessee National Guard and Reserve Members and Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve and encourage citizens to show appreciation accordingly.  Pictured are TN ESGR Memphis Area Chair, Joe Kyles, Mayor Wharton, and TN ESGR Chair, Carl Lambert. 

The proclamation stated, "Whereas, our nation and community will always rely upon the service of these Citizen-Soldiers in times of greatest need, and we therefore recognize their valiant spirit of service, as well as their employers' commitment to maintaining the safety and security of the United States by caring for those who defend it."  The proclamation was presented after a luncheon honoring employers who exceed legal requirements for support of their employees who serve in our Reserve Components.
