On behalf of the members of TEXO, The Construction Association, and its board of directors, Raleigh Roussell, president and chief executive officer for TEXO, signed a Statement of Support for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserves (ESGR) today in Dallas. The ceremony was held in conjunction with TEXO’s board of directors meeting, and included attendance by Texas Workforce Commissioner Tom Pauken and Texas ESGR Committee Chairman Dr. Jerry Icenhower.
The ESGR Statement of Support signifies that an employer fully recognizes, honors and enforces the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Act (USERRA); provides mangers and supervisors the tools necessary to effectively manage those employees serving in the Guard and Reserve; and, recognizes and supports our U. S. service members and their families in peace, in crisis and in war. TEXO joins a growing list of over 5,000 Texas employers previously voicing their support for the Guard and Reserve by signing Statements of Support.
“TEXO’s members, many who are veterans, carry with them a great sense of patriotism, pride and the utmost respect for the brave men and women who currently serve or have served our country,” said Roussell. “Signing this statement on behalf of our members during this Memorial Day week of celebrations is one way we as an organization can publically demonstrate our support for members of the military that have dedicated their lives to protect our country and our nation’s freedom.”
Dr. Icenhower added “We are extremely pleased at TEXO’s support for our Guard and Reservist and their declaration is consistent with Governor Perry and Commissioner Pauken’s Texas Veterans’ Leadership Program focusing on hiring veterans.”
TEXO is the construction association representing a membership of more than 1,900 commercial contractors in North and East Texas. It is the name of the new association formed from the consolidation of the North/East Texas Chapter of the Associated General Contractors (QUOIN) and the Associated Builders and Contractors North Texas (ABCTN). With the consolidation of these two associations, TEXO is among the largest commercial contractors associations in Texas and one of the largest associations affiliated with both the national ABC and AGC.
