California Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve and Employer Partnership of the Armed Forces participated in a Veterans and Military spouses hiring fair and service project at Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles California. ESGR and EPAF were just two of the estimated 200 organizations and employers on hand to focus on and assist efforts to insure the best re-integration and employment of veterans and military families.
The event also was honored that Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and his wife Kate were able to briefly attend in the afternoon. Prince William spoke about the importance of the military, and how one of his goals is to raise awareness and support for the service men and women who put their lives on the line for their Country.
Hiring our Hero’s Los Angeles will be the biggest of the over 100 hiring fairs that the Chambers, with the participation of the Department of Labor’s Veterans Employment and Training Services (VETS) and the Department of Defense’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserves (ESGR), are holding across the country through March of 2012. Today’s Hiring our Hero’s hiring fair attracted over 2000 Veterans, Citizen Warriors, Wounded Warriors and spouses. This hiring fair is set to make a significant difference in the State of California who currently has over 100,000 veterans seeking employment opportunities.
ESGR and EPAF joined forces today to promote the www.employerpartnership.org website which currently has over 740,000 jobs posted across the United States and territories. At the end of this Hiring Fair over 800 Veterans/family members learned about this employment resource, 30 of these participants registered on the site at the booth, and 25 potential employers are considering becoming partners with the Employer Partnership.
