CRANSTON, RI – The Rhode Island Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve will honor the Greenwood Credit Union for its continued dedication to supporting Servicemembers and their families.

Currently, Greenwood Credit Union reduces mortgage rates of deploying Servicemembers to 2% during their deployment.

The current regulation under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, states that financial organizations are only required to reduce a members rate to 6%. With current interest rates much lower than 6%, the reduction to 2% displays a conscious, patriotic effort to provide Servicemembers with the intent of the law, rather than simply adhering to the word of the law.

"Once again, and Rhode Island company has gone the extra mile to support our deployed Soldiers and Airmen" noted MG Robert T. Bray, the Adjutant General of RI and Commanding General of the Rhode Island National Guard. "Greenwood Credit Union's incredible rate reduction program for deployed service members is representative of their awareness that the unselfish efforts of our deployed military members provide them with the freedom to operate successfully. On behalf of all our Soldiers and Airmen, I extend my personal thanks to greenwood Credit Union and congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition" concluded Bray.
