 The Florida Legislature and The Florida Cabinet by Proclamations/Resolution declared 13 May 2010 Florida ESGR Day to emphasize the SOS signing by all of the State Law Enforcement Agencies (SLEA).  On 11 May the Florida Cabinet presented the Florida Committee a Resolution declaring 13 May ESGR Day.

FL ESGR Vice Chairman for Training, James Dicks spearheaded this Event to coordinate with the;

•    Department of Agricultural Law Enforcement (AgLaw),
•    Attorney General,
•    Medicaid Fraud Unit,
•    Child Predator Cyber Crime Unit,
•    Dept of Environmental Protection (DEP),
•    Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco,
•    DOT Division of Law Enforcement,
•    Division of State Fire Marshal,
•    Division of Insurance Fraud,
•    FWC, Division of Law Enforcement,
•    Florida Dept of Corrections,
•    Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle (FHSMV),
•    Florida Highway Patrol,
•    Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE),
•    Lottery,
•    Office of Motor Carrier Compliance,
•    Florida A&M University, PD,
•    Florida Atlantic University PD,
•    Florida Gulf Coast University PD,
•    Florida State University, PD,
•    University of Central Florida PD,
•    University of Florida, PD,
•    University of North Florida PD,
•    University of South Florida PD,
•    University of West Florida PD,

James worked very closely with Ms. Julie Jones, Executive Director of FHSMV and her Team. FHSMV volunteered to coordinate all of SLEA and worked with James Dicks and the ESGR Team to make this a highly successful Event.  Mr. Jack Lott, FL ESGR PAO for this event, coordinated with all of the Public Affairs/Public Relations from SLEA to maximize the press coverage for these events.

All of the Agencies executed a SOS at 1300 on 13 May, either at their respective offices or at one of the Seven Super Sites across the State in;
•    Pensacola (Doug Corbett, Exec Dir) and
•    Tallahassee (Bill Gladwin, Area Chair,
•    Jacksonville (Garfield Jones/Penny Justice, Area Chair),
•    Orlando (Ed Apodoca, Area Chair),
•    Tampa (Bill Burda, member and Ted Wilhite, Chair Emeritus),
•    West Palm Beach (MG, Retd., Steve Read, VC Mil Outreach),
•    Miami (Mike Mills, Area Chair),

The Florida Highway Patrol acted as the hosting Agency for these events across Florida and coordinated each one with flawless precision.  All of the reports from each venue were outstanding and all spoke of the total commitment these Agencies were giving to the Service Members and their Families.  In addition each of these Agencies committed to extending the wing to the families by making sure they visit each Family of a mobilized member once a month until the Service Members returns.

The Event culminated in the execution of approximately 1000 SOS and a huge boost of support to the men, women and their families of the National Guard and Reserves.  Ms. Jones summed it very well, saying, “the work of the ESGR program cannot be understated, as the men and women of the Guard and Reserve continue to play critical roles in service to our country and communities-both in their careers as active government employees and service members”.

This was truly a Statewide effort, from Governor Christ, the Florida Cabinet, Florida Legislature (Ron Reagan, Area Chair Bradenton sponsored the bill), all of the State Law Enforcement Agencies and our outstanding Committee Members worked together to make this a tremendous success for these great American Patriots we serve.
