Smyrna, DE – Robert Welch, Volunteer Committee Member for the Delaware Committee for ESGR honored Mr. Lew Wood of Amtrak with a Patriot Award in recognition of his extraordinary support of their employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.  The presentation took place at Amtrak’s Bear, DE facility, and in the company of other fellow managers and staff. The recipients was nominated by employee and Guard member Tech. Sgt. Michael Lawson who serves in the Delaware Air National Guard 166th CES, New Castle, DE.

After receiving the award, Mr. Wood stated “We will take care of you.  We support you.  We will always offer you full support, while you serve our country.”

According to Christine Kubik, Delaware ESGR Executive Director, “the ESGR Patriot Award was created to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve.  Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of our nation’s Guard and Reserve units.  Employers are nominated by their military employees”.
