Durham, NC – Bud Baker State Chairman of the North Carolina Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, announced all branch managers and department heads totaling 256 signed a Statement of Support for the National Guard and Reserve on Saturday, August 14, 2010.  The signing ceremony occurred at their Annual Meeting in Durham, NC.

Bruce Jacobs with First American Title Insurance Company was presented a Patriot Award from SSgt Michael Blaker, 943rd Maintenance Squadron, USAFR, Davis Monthan AFB, Tucson, AZ. 

Pendleton Woods was recruited into the Oklahoma ESGR Committee in 1987 as Public Affairs Chairman. His principal involvement in this program is to write and send out individual news stories to home town newspapers recognizing supervisors and companies which have received the Patriotic Employer Award.  Penn was instrumental in naming the “My Boss is a Patriot” Award in the original beginning of this outstanding award many years ago.

On Tuesday, July 27th, 18 employers of Alabama National Guard and Reserve Soldiers and Airmen strapped themselves into the mesh seats of a droning UH60 Blackhawk helicopter.  They waited patiently and some nervously for the roaring beast to take flight.  With a thumbs-up from the crew chief, they were airborne, headed to Camp Shelby, Miss., for an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) boss lift.

Tulsa, Oklahoma – Brigadier General (Ret) Gary Bray, Field Chair of the Oklahoma Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, announced that United States Shooting Academy, Brad DeLauter, CEO, signed  a Statement of Support for the National Guard and Reserve on July 31, 2010. The signing ceremony occured at the 6500 East 66th Street North, Tulsa, OK.

Delaware Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Volunteer Richard Ruben honored Mr. Chris Vinton of Comcast in Dover, with a Patriot Award, in recognition of his extraordinary support of employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

On Wednesday, August 4th, Tennessee ESGR, Joint Forces Headquarters Tennessee National Guard, the US Department of Labor and the Tennessee Department of Labor joined together to present a two day Employment Assistance Training Workshop in Jackson, TN.

ROCHESTER, Minnesota – The Minnesota Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is pleased to announce that Mr. Mark Ostrem and the Olmsted County Attorney’s Office will receive ESGR’s Patriot Award in ceremonies scheduled as part of the Olmsted County Board of Commissioners meeting at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, August 10, 2010.   

Phoenix, Arizona, August 4, 2010. Arizona State Chairman, Scott Essex presents to his right, Sergeant Thomas Leister and Commander Chris Crockett, City of Phoenix Police Department their Patriot Awards.  Also pictured is Arizona Executive Director Butch Wise and to his right, Sergeant Walter Gustafson.  Commander Crockett and SGT Leister were nominated for their Patriot Awards by SGT Christopher Hendershott, who is currently deployed with the 1136th Transportation Company, Maine Army National Guard stationed in Afghanistan.  SGT Hendershott stated that the Phoenix Police Department has about 13 employees deployed all over the world and they support each person 100 percent and have all of the photos up on the Phoenix Police website so other employees can e-mail to show their support of each deployed person.

Chesapeake – Mr. Roger Trout, State Chair of the Virginia Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee, an agency of the Department of Defense, announced that Cox Communications, Virginia signed a Statement of Support for the National Guard and Reserve on Tuesday, August 3, 2010.

(Olympia, Washington) -  Washington State Area Chair Jim Shepherd presented the ESGR’s Above and Beyond Award to Washington State Patrol Chief John R. Batiste in a ceremony held on August 3, 2010. 

The state of Florida’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (FLESGR) Committee members and honored guests gathered at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida July 30-31, 2010 for this year’s Annual Planning and Awards Conference (APAC).

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – BG (Ret) Gary Bray, State Chair of the Oklahoma Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, announced that Commissioner Kevin L. Ward, Oklahoma Department of Public Safety (OKDPS), signed a Statement of Support for the National Guard and Reserve on August 3, 2010.  The signing ceremony occurred at the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety Conference Room in Oklahoma City, OK.   The signing was attended by several of the Deparment’s key leaders.

Rhinelander, Wis. - July 29, 2010 -- The Chequamegon–Nicolet National Forest (CNNF) was recognized by the Department of Defense for supporting its National Guard and Reserve employees.

Jackson, Mississippi – The Mississippi Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, announced today the John Gupton and Bill Painter of Baker Donelson were honored with a Patriot Award in recognition of extraordinary support of its employee(s) who serve in the Mississippi National Guard and Reserve.

On July 22, at Pfizer Corporation, Lieutenant General (retired) Roger Lempke, Nebraska ESGR Committee presented a Patriot Award to Mr. Jason Parde, on behalf of Staff Sergeant Darrin Fulford, who is deploying to Afghanistan later this month.
