(New Lisbon, WI) – The Wisconsin Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, announced today that Warden Ana Boatwright, Deputy Warden Lizzie Tegels, and Security Director Larry Fuchs of the New Lisbon Correctional Institution were honored with a Patriot Award in recognition of extraordinary support of one of their employees, Timothy Dahnke, Technical Sergeant who serves in the 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard.

Mobile, AL--Clark Christianson, president and CEO of Providence Hospital, was recently presented an “Employer Support of Guard & Reserve” award. Mr. Christianson was nominated for this award by Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Ken Davis, a Providence lab employee on active military duty.

Twenty-eight civilian employers, with businesses located in Central Virginia, traveled to Fort Lee, VA, as guests of the Virginia National Guard, the Virginia ESGR Field Office and the United States Army’s Sustainment Center of Excellence. It was a day for all of them to see first- hand the training provided to members of each military service, to include members of every reserve component and the National Guard as well. Throughout the day, the employers began to see how much of this training could benefit their civilian businesses, at no additional cost to them, when they hire and retain employees; who also serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

The PA Committee for ESGR partnered with the 2008 World Champion and 2009 National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies in honoring all who serve and pledging to continue their support to all local members of the Guard and Reserve.

The Irvine Police Department and the City of Irvine, were recognized and honored by the California Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense (DoD) agency, for their outstanding support of the many City employees serving in the Guard and Reserve at a recent City Council Meeting.

BURNSVILLE – Nearly 750 Minnesotans attended Congressman John Kline’s career and jobs fair Monday at Inver Hills Community College in Inver Grove Heights. Kline’s jobs fair included more than 60 private-sector employers, service organizations, and educational institutions – more than 40 of which offered current job openings.

For the last 13 years, realtors from Coldwell Banker S.R.E. Realtors have blanketed the city with over 5,000 American flags.  This year, they decided to take their patriotism to the next level.

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Department of Defense announces the alignment of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), Yellow Ribbon Program, and Individual and Family Support Policy under a single, new directorate. Family and Employer Programs & Policy, within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs, will be led by Mr. Ronald G. Young, the current Executive Director for ESGR.

Des Moines-area employers will be reminded that they have a role to play in supporting the military by a new outdoor board campaign that launched in July.  The campaign asks the question: “Are you a patriotic employer?”

Seattle, Washington – The Washington Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, announced today that Robert Dost, a supervisor at the Boeing Company was honored with the Patriot Award in recognition of extraordinary support of an employee who serves in the United States Coast Guard.

Ron Collins (Facilities Engineering) who is a Master Sergeant (E7) in the Air Force Reserves recently nominated Walt Davis, Mike Brown, and Jim Stueber for the Patriot Award.

More than 30 community leaders and business professionals from across Illinois received an invitation from Maj. Gen. William Enyart, Adjutant General of the State of Illinois, to participate in the ESGR Bosslift for 2010.  Bosslifts transport employers and supervisors to military training sites where they observe National Guard and Reserve members on duty.  This provides the employer a better understanding of what our Reservists and Guardsmen do when they are away from their civilian occupation for duty with their military units.  On orders issued by Enyart, the ESGR Bosslift group traveled to Seattle, Washington, June 21-23.

 The Florida Legislature and The Florida Cabinet by Proclamations/Resolution declared 13 May 2010 Florida ESGR Day to emphasize the SOS signing by all of the State Law Enforcement Agencies (SLEA).  On 11 May the Florida Cabinet presented the Florida Committee a Resolution declaring 13 May ESGR Day.
 

DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. – The Arizona Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) presented nine Above and Beyond awards and four Seven Seals awards to Southern Arizona employers during an awards luncheon here June 22.

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Department of Defense has announced the recipients of the 2010 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest recognition given by the U.S. Government to employers for their outstanding support of their employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve. Marking the 15^th anniversary of the award, instituted in 1996 under then Secretary of Defense William Perry, this year’s honorees range from a small plumbing company to a state government to a large grocery store chain.

LINCOLN — Col. Rick Evans, commander of the Nebraska Air National Guard’s 155th Air Refueling Wing headquartered in Lincoln, talked about his unit and its missions recently in Lincoln.
