A chance to see what is happening with ESGR committees everywhere.

Representatives of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve presented an award to Kansas Heart Hospital and anesthesiologist Ernie Hoeckel for their support of a worker who was recently deployed to Afghanistan.

"My employer had a company-wide send-off party at work for me on my last day of work prior to deployment. The company's HR Department organized a company-wide care package drive for me and they sent 34 boxes of goodies and supplies to myself and my soldiers. They also continued to pay my full insurance!"

Glass, 42, said her manager, Michael Lally, has been very accommodating of her schedule. “Last year was a rough year, with last-minute notifications that I was going somewhere,” said Glass, who has served three years. The stints ranged from a couple weeks to a month at a time, she said, and through it all, Lally “was just really understanding and cared about making sure everything was resolved.”

Law Enforcement organizations across the state today reiterated their commitment to supporting officers who also serve in the National Guard or the Reserves. Ceremonies signifying support were held in seven cities. At the state Capitol in Tallahassee, Judge Doug Holder of Tampa thanked the law enforcement commanders for their support.

It's not every day you get the chance to fly in a Blackhawk helicopter. It's a steadfast and versatile member of the U.S. Army's aviation lineup. Friday, the Montana National Guard opened the chopper doors to businesses that employ guardsmen and women.

"It's a great positive day. It's a positive experience to come in and honor employers from around the state and say thank you for your contribution to our country," ESGR Chairman, Mike Flaherty said.

Disher, a Marine Corps veteran himself, will take part in an Ohio Air National Guard refueling mission, Thursday, May 10, 2012. Disher will be one of 25 Cincinnati business members to travel to Columbus, Ohio for the flight, coordinated by the Cincinnati chapter of the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserves (ESGR). The goal of the experience is to expose employers to what the National Guard does and encourage employer support of National Guard employees and discharged veterans. TQL recently won a Patriot Award for its support of employees in the Guard and Reserves.
