BEDFORD, MA. 27 March, 2009. MITRE Corporation of Bedford, Massachusetts was presented the Above & Beyond Award for their outstanding support of its military member workforce. Employing a large number of Guard and Reserve personnel, MITRE has demonstrated a great concern for their people in uniform. MITRE has also developed many initiatives for the support of veterans in and out of its workplace. MITRE has several benchmark programs including the "Suits For Vet's" program which providers all of the tools, including new clothing, resume training and other essentials for returning military members to aid them in their quest for employment. This has led to an intern program within the company itself.
The Massachusetts Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve has nominated The MITRE Corp. for the 2009 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award in the large business category. Ms. Jennifer Shearman accepted the Above & Beyond Award and also signed the Statement of Support on behalf of the corporation. Attending the ceremony were several members of the workforce in uniform, various members of company leadership and local media.
