MOBILE, Ala. - The Alabama Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee was invited to attend and participate in the Alabama League of Municipalities Convention here  May 16 and 17. 

    On behalf of Russell E. Summerlin, State Chair, four members of the Alabama ESGR program participated in the event.   Vice Chair-South Richard Little and Area Chair William “Bill” Kringel, Ph.D., coordinated the event.  Dr.  Kringel provided a outstanding briefing to the members of the League of Municipalities.  He and Mr. Little, along with members Charlotte Boyle and Arthur McPhillips, set up an outstanding display booth and table for the event. 

    The two-day event had an estimated attendance of over 1000 mayors, city officials, business representatives and guests.   All of the attendees were exposed to our display and the number of personnel that stopped by our display was truly remarkable.   A number of employers stopped by to make comments of thanks for what we do, and how much they support the men and women in uniform.

    During this event approximately 150 Statements of Support were signed. An additional 200 to 300 SOSs will be delivered by other Alabama ESGR Members to members of the League of Municipalities out in the community.
