LINCOLN, Neb. — Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz of the Lincoln Diocese has been presented a Nebraska ESGR Patriot Award. Bishop Bruskewitz received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve recognition from Nebraska ESGR Chairman Walter Zink. The bishop was nominated by Chaplain (Major) Brian Kane of the 67th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, Nebraska Army National Guard. Chaplain Kane wrote, “Bishop Bruskewitz currently allows four Catholic priests to serve as chaplains in the armed forces — two National Guard and two active Army. He also has one seminarian who is a captain candidate” and will be ordained as a priest this month. Bishop Bruskewitz also signed an ESGR Statement of Support, publicly confirming that the Lincoln Diocese stands squarely behind those who serve in the U.S. military’s reserve components.
