PHOENIX, Ariz. - Arizona State Chairman, Scott Essex presents Amelia Hugues, Deputy Director for the City of Phoenix Public Works, Metro Facilities her Patriot Award.  Amelia was nominated by MSgt Gary Lovgren, 161st Air Refueling Wing, Arizona Air National Guard.  MSgt Lovgren stated; I know the City of Phoenix has a strong policy supporting military members, but management has certain latitude to apply this. 

I have always felt at ease while being deployed.  Public Works in general has been very supportive with both the process out and when I return.  Amelia herself has always come to me directly to see if I needed anything.  Her constant contact and communication helped reassure me of Metro Facilities support.  I believe the pride she has in all the military members shines through in both her words and actions.  When I returned from my last deployment, Amelia didn't have to say anything; I could see it on her face.  I truly appreciate all her efforts and encouraging words.  I also would like to recognize the outstanding support that the rest of the staff provided me while serving in the AZ ANG. It should be noted that a separate Patriot presentation occurred for the entire staff at the City of Phoenix Public Works, Metro Facilities.
