Auburn, AL – Russell Summerlin, State Chairman of The Alabama Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, announces that The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center was honored with a Seven Seals Award in recognition of their support of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve mission.

According to D.J. Hammett, ESGR State Vice-Chair, North Alabama, “The Seven Seals Award is one of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve award that bridges both the employer and ESGR volunteer recognition awards program. It was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide significant achievement, initiative or support that promotes and supports the ESGR mission.”  The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center is being nominated for outstanding support of the ESGR mission by employing National Guard and Reserve servicemembers from all branches of the military. The hotel management consistently supports them in regards to drills, Annual Training, and serving on active duty.

The presentation took place at the hotel, on 28 January 2010.  Accepting the award on behalf of The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center is Mr. Hans Van Der Reijden, Managing Director, Hotel Operations and Educational Initiatives.  The award presentation included military personnel from the Army National Guard, Naval Reserve, USMC Reserve, and Air Force ROTC Unit Commanding Officers, along with the Alumni Association VP Dr. Debbie L. Shaw and Dr. June Henton, Dean of the College of Human Sciences at Auburn University.  Also in attendance, ESGR Alabama Vice State Chair-North D.J. Hammett, and Vice State Chair-South Dick Little.
