(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) – More than 60 Kentucky school districts have signed Statements of Support (SoS) demonstrating their commitment to supporting their employees who are members of the Guard and Reserve. The signings took place during the Kentucky School Board Association’s annual conference in Louisville January 22-23.

Signing an SoS not only highlights an employer’s or organization’s commitment to supporting Guard and Reserve members, but also demonstrates their recognition of the hardship faced by families when a parent or spouse is called to active duty. Dozens of children impacted by the absence of a parent attend schools in these districts and can benefit from the additional support and care that’s available.

As the 1.3 million members of the National Guard and Reserve continue to perform an increasing number of unique missions that require extraordinary actions on the part of everyday citizens, ESGR will continue to be the informational agency for the employers of citizen warriors. More information about ESGR Employer Outreach Programs and volunteer opportunities is available at

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the law (USERRA – the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act), and resolving conflicts through informal mediation. ESGR volunteers provide free education, consultation and, if necessary, mediation for employers of Guard and Reserve employees.
