The Alabama ESGR Program was honored to have National ESGR Chairman, Mr. James Rebholz, attend our Quarterly Executive Committee meeting in Birmingham, Alabama, on November 9-11, 2009. Mr. Rebholz also attended National Veterans Day in Birmingham activities. He was seated at the head table and recognized as the National ESGR Chairman at the Veterans Day Awards Dinner on Tuesday, November 10. The Birmingham Veterans Day activities are recognized as the oldest and largest veterans celebration in the United States.
During the state Executive Committee meeting, Mr. Rebholz updated members on important items such as the total number of ESGR volunteers (4,600-4,700), the 54 field committees, and the 57 ESGR staffers in the national office in Arlington, Virginia. He discussed the 2010 budget and the special training planned for new State Chairs, Area Chairs, and Ombudsmen. Mr. Rebholz covered moving toward the concept of maintaining employer support in the area of Statement of Support signings and the importance of the subcommittees, especially the Strategic Planning Committee.
After Executive Committee meeting, Mr. Rebholz answered questions from the members. State Chair BG Russell Summerlin and the other attendees were honored that Mr. Rebholz took time from his busy schedule to be a part of the Alabama ESGR Executive Committee meeting. His participation in the Veteran’s Day activities also added a dimension of honor and recognition for ESGR. |
