On November 11th 2009, Montana’s senior United States Senator, Mr. Max Baucus joined with thousands of American Employers who have signed a Statement of Support with their local Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee. While attending a Veteran’s Issues Roundtable discussion in Great Falls, MT U.S Senator Baucus joined with the Montana ESGR State Chairman, Mr. Michael Flaherty, along with a group of ESGR volunteers and local military representatives to conduct a Statement of Support signing event. By signing with the MT-ESGR committee Senator Baucus publicly displayed his support of Montana’s National Guard and Reserve components, and their defense of our State and Nation.

The ESGR Statement of Support Program seeks to inform and educate employers about their rights and responsibilities towards their employees, who serve in the National Guard and Reserve, and to also recognize and reward those employers who go “over and above” the requirements of the law. A Statement of Support signing employer denotes the following:

• We fully recognize, honor and enforce the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA). 
• Our managers and supervisors will have the tools they need to effectively manage those employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
• We will continually recognize and support our country’s service members and their families in peace, in crises and in war.
