Needham, MA. - 5 February, 2009. The Celldex Therapeutics Corporation has a policy to seek out military members and provides a comfortable work environment for Reservists, Guardsmen and returning veterans. In addition to hiring reserve component members and returning veterans, the company does more than comply with the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-employment Rights Act (USERRA) of 1994. They go the extra distance by providing their Guard and Reserve members with the following benefits.
While military member employee's are serving on deployment, Celldex provides all benefits, differential pay and provides accrued sick and annual leave for the period during which they are mobilized.
On Unit Training Assembly (UTA) weekends, Celldex allows military personnel to work at a different location which decreases commuting time to drilling location by 90 minutes.
Celldex employees were very supportive of fellow employees who are Reserve and Guard Members by send e-mails of encouragement, keeping in phone contact and shipping "Care packages" to deployed military members.
The Celldex Company is in weekly contact with the family members who are home to insure everything is going smoothly while their member is deployed.
The actions of this outstanding company demonstrates their commitment to their twice a citizen employers. So much so in fact that The Celldex Corporation has been selected as a nominee for the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award for 2009. The company had previously signed a Statement of Support. During the course of the event SSgt Chandler Ruehrwein, an employee at Celldex, presented a Patriotic Employer Award to Ms. Paula Freeman, Director of Human resources and his immediate supervisor.
