CHICAGO – Illinois Governor Pat Quinn appeared on the Jonathan Brandmeier (Johnny B) Radio Show (WLUP–FM) and during the live broadcast he signed new legislation enhancing entitlements for Illinois Guard and Reserve members. Governor Quinn also signed the ESGR Statement of Support (SOS) on behalf of the State of Illinois.
The bill signed by Governor Quinn expands the reasons for which public employees who are also members of the United States Armed Forces may be granted leave of absence or compensation from their employer. Taking effect January 1, 2010, the bill clarifies that any training or duty required by the United States Armed Forces is included in the States' current Military Leave of Absence Act.
After signing the bill, the Governor went on to praise those who serve in our Military. Long known as a supporter of Veterans and members of the Armed Services, Governor Quinn was then presented with a Statement of Support by IL ESGR Public Affairs Director Michael Holub. “Johnny B”, host of the show, read the Statement of Support in its entirety as Governor Quinn signed it “live” during the morning drive-time broadcast. |
